Bittersweet...

Today was Khylee's last day of first grade. I am so proud of her and what she accomplished this year but I am so sad because she is really growing up too fast. Everyone always told me that time really flies when you have kids but you never realize just how much time goes by. My baby is officially a second grader!

Yesterday we the whole school dressed up for the awards assembly. Khylee was so excited to wear her new dress. She wanted her hair curled so badly but unfortunately she got her hair from me and it won't hold a curl for more than ten minutes so we decided to try rag curls.

She was so excited to take the "rags" out and see if her beautiful curls turned out. After unwrapping each "rag," here was the result...

At first she was a little nervous that they were too "poofy" but I assured her they were beautiful! By the end of the day she loved them! She got so many compliments. I definitely think this is something we will do again since it was SO successful!!

Her is her dress she picked out for dress-up day at school:

Springtime Fun!!

Spring started off a little cold this year with snow on the ground but eventually it warmed up. Unfortunately the sun didn't want to stick around for too long. We were lucky enough to enjoy a few days of warm weather!

Khylee got a new bike from Santa and she has really enjoyed riding it. It is a little big and the brakes are on the handles so it is taking some practice. She is doing great though! She rode over to the park near our house while I jogged (but really was running) next to her. She thought it was so funny that she could go faster than me. (And I really tried to keep up!)

She has also started swimming lessons. She is on her third round of lessons and she has really taken off. I am so impressed with how much she has learned in such a short amount of time. She loves swimming. She would swim all day long if I let her.

Winter Storm

The weather forecasters have been predicting "the biggest winter storm since 1986." Well, I am not quite sure I agree but we'll certainly take what we can get. Rarely ever do we get to enjoy true "snow days" but we are fortunate enough today to have one. Yesterday we had a 2-hour late start because of ice but today they canceled school because of the "Winter Storm" we are having. I know, I know, all of you that live in places that get multiple feet of snow each year are probably laughing at us but we are definitely enjoying playing in the snow. Here are a few pictures of our adventures over that past few days.

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!!

2012 is going to be a GREAT year! I just know it. We kicked it off again this year with the Diddy's and of course we had a blast! While we were waiting to get picked up, Khylee decided she wanted to have a photoshoot with my new camera. (Photo shoot meaning she would take pictures of ME...). It was fun and she really enjoyed it.

This year Khylee will be 7!! I can't believe my baby will be SEVEN in less than a month!!! Where has the time gone? She is such a sweet girl and I am loving this age. She is doing so well learning to read! She loves math and does not really like to write. Ha ha! This might be because I am her writing teacher. She loves to come to my classroom but it is hard for her to remember I am also her teacher. (And sometimes for me too)!

I am really enjoying my current postion this year. I moved schools at the beginning of this year and have truly been welcomed by my new staff. I am the Primary Learning Specialist and I teach first and second grade writing part time and I also do a job share in fourth grade one day a week. I love every part of my job. I am so blessed to have been given the opportunities that I have in my career.

I started my Master's program the end of October and I am loving it. I am currently in my second class. I am actually able to apply the information I am learning to my teaching and with my colleagues. I look forward to accomplishing this huge achievement!!

There are so many things I want to accomplish this year. I started making a list of 30 things I want to accomplish before I turn the big 3-0! I have a little less than 6 months and I don't quite have 30 but I definitely have so good ideas.
